Sucks to be sure, but while you're out ass-kicking, give the developer of your new place a couple as well. We had heard of this from one of our neighbours in an earlier phase of the construction of out condo complex. They had to go to a post office about a km away to pick up their mail for a few weeks. So we spoke to the developer to ensure our building was 'reported' in time to Canada Post. We were the first to move into our building on Fri Dec 15th and had mail on the following Monday. To say I was impressed was an understatement.. That said, as a less than general rule... Canada Post sucks. They suck worse that Basic Instinct II.

Don't get me started...
too late...

Last Wednesday I Sent a 'panic parcel' to the East Coast for Mother's Day... Not wanting it to be late I took their quickest and most expensive courier service. For the 6x9 envelope it cost me a staggering $30.07!!! But it was for my Mom so I happily said goodbye to my money. Because it was late in the day on Wed they let me know that the 'one day guaranteed delivery' will be in effect as of the following morning, but would not be a problem because it will get there on Friday. I was fine with it.

Skip ahead to Sunday when I am talking to my dear Mother on the phone... I ask if she's happy with the gift and she says "What gift? Until you called I was beginning to think you forgot..."

I got out the receipt, logged on to Canada Post's website to track it and lo... it was still sitting in the sorting station in St-Andre. Yup,. 4 days AFTER I chucked $30 away it's moved about 5 kms!

It was finally delivered YESTERDAY! Am I happy? HELL no. And trust me they got an ear full from me on Monday, and again yesterday. And I'm not gonna stop being a major prick til I get my Money back. AND...I'm sending them a letter and having it delivered via Purolator, so at least I'll know it arrives ON TIME!

That's the last time I use Canada Post.
'Point final' as they say in french...Sean Newburyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00225654348725130295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30528011.post-70294295438708664112007-05-15T17:23:00.000-04:002007-05-15T17:23:00.000-04:00Talk about an institution that needs competition. ...Talk about an institution that needs competition. Again, isn't mail delivery a right?

I did clear something up today, however. I found my two weeks worth of mail at the Orleans post office. The gentleman there also told me that as soon as mailboxes are installed in this building, deliver will begin. Canada Post does have 90 days in which to do it, but he says generally, it only takes two or three days.

We'll see...Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02820283554188267414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30528011.post-11607970856690747072007-05-15T13:58:00.000-04:002007-05-15T13:58:00.000-04:00Since November, I've had to drive to the other sid...Since November, I've had to drive to the other side of the city to the Federal Building to collect my re-directed mail from Hamilton, because the new development I now live in won't have post boxes/supermailboxes/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for about A YEAR from the time I've moved in...the actual time frame of when we can expect to have a mailbox close to where we live is completely dependent on when Canada Post decides they want to bother doing so.
I am spending about 40 bucks EVERY THREE MONTHS to rent a 'convenience mailbox' at the Shopper's Drug Mart near where we live to avoid having to hit 'goverment hours' at the Federal Building to collect my mail...which, I believe I may have already mentioned, is on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRICKIN' CITY!JBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12518937433074671592noreply@blogger.com
