I finally got some half-decent loon photos!

It has been a quest of mine for many, many years, to get close enough and have the right camera to get some photos of the loons that are on our small lake every summer. Finally, with my Canon PowerShot S3IS, I have succeeded! And on the final night of my vacation at the cottage, too!
That doesn't mean that my quest is over. I know these pics are not perfect, and know a few ways that I can improve on them. Plus Milky will probably have a few pointers (hint-hint) and I hope to take a digital photography course this fall.
In the meantime, though, these will suffice. And, oh, I also shot a bit of video with my camera for the first time. It is also a work in progress.

More on the vaykay later. I guess it's nice to be back.

WELCOME HOME!

jeeze I was beginning to worry 'bout you!

Great pics btw... I'll post one I took two summers ago on a weekend camping trip. We got about 3 meters away from one while canoeing...

Thanks, Kitty. I guess between your trip to Pa-ree and my trip to Ma Horton Territory, we lost touch.

Two btw's:
-I didn't get a chance to see Ma, although I did stop at the new Ma Horton's Donut Emporium. I didn't see T either, cuz our vacations also coincided.
-Please don't make any loon jokes about my Dad and stepmother. They would hit too close to home to be funny.

Nice work bud!!!

Loons are WONDERFUL!

My only advice would be to re-size your images so that they fit on the screen!

A typical computer monitor is 800x600 pixels... so resizing these to about 600 pixels wide or 550 pixels high will allow us to enjoy these even more!!

But make sure you don't re-size the originals... that way you can still make nice big prints. Only re-size copies of your origials.

I feel the pressure to perform now... off to NB this weekend and hope to spend some time shooting Puffins and Eagles (and hopefully some whales) around Deer Island as well as Grand Manan.
