The worst part is over

The offer has been accepted, all conditions met or removed, and we move on to the closing. The money-sucking lawyers have five weeks to do what little they have to do, and I take possession of my first home on October 31. So now, I have to get off my duff and start packing.

Oh, wait: I take back the "worst part" bit. Packing and moving are collectively the worst part. Hopefully, this will be the last of that nonsense for 14 or 15 years.

Yay, Bob. As of October 31st you'll officially be a grown-up. You can't be grown-up until you take on a massive debt. That's the rule. And really, we're all waiting for the housewarming invite...

Awww, crap! I don't wanna be grown up. I just want to OWN the treehouse -- then it's up to me whether girls and their cooties are allowed.

I can see single, forward-thinking, fun-loving, intelligent Bob and single Mom, forward-thinking, fun-loving, intelligent XUP (C.C.) being able to get together at Bob's new place for coffee (or tea, or milk - whatever your favourite morning bevvy - Hell, Ovaltine). Maybe - one weekend morning - Bob could put down the new Wii Fit, and go for an actual WALK with the former Urban Pedestrian...with the two of you becoming friends - other than here in the digital world...
Sorry...You probably both just got angry with me for meddling, but I'm just thinking out loud. You live in the same city, and (now) both have your own houses, plus separate lives, decent jobs...
I'm just sayin'.

AND - (changing the subject before the chastising starts) - Bob, I'd absolutely help you in a heartbeat with your move if I lived closer.
...and if I lived in Ottawa, I'd also be inviting XUP over to meet the fam.
;-)

And I thought it was Kitty who was the 83-year-old Jewish woman in someone else's body.
Oy, JB, you're such a mensch.

Okay, so mensch isn't quite the Yiddish word I was looking for. It actually means nice man (Oy vey, who knew?). While it does apply in JB's case, I was looking for kokhlefl, which means meddler.

JB: And how does Bob owning a house spark all this meddling all of a sudden? Like only a man with his own home can entertain guests? Sheesh.

I guess what sparked it for me was just that you both have your own houses...now that Bob's moving out of the Young Men's Christian Association...

...Oh, you didn't know?
