Ohmygawd, the sky is falling!

How will this country survive with less Ben Mulroney on TV? Oh, the pain... (sarcasm intended)
CTV cancels Canadian Idol for 2009

Canadian Idol, once a competition-crushing ratings juggernaut for CTV, will not be produced in 2009, the network confirmed tonight.

Citing a less-than-idyllic "economic climate," CTV said Canadian Idol will be taking a "rest" for the broadcast year.

But CTV still retains its Idol licence, and says it has every expectation of bringing the crooner competition back again the following season.

Times must indeed be tough for the network to suspend production on the second most-watched Canadian-originated show in the entire country - right behind CTV's other adopted franchise, So You Think You Can Dance Canada.

But even with impressive ratings that ranged between 1 and 1.5 million in the final weeks of its sixth season in September, that is still roughly half the Canadian audience for its sister sing-a-thon, American Idol.

The American show, also cutting costs this year by cancelling its annual American Idol Gives Back fund-raiser, returns for its own eighth season January 13.

Is it true that although Ben will not have to work on Canadian Idol he is still getting paid as if he was, just doing half the work... I bet he is laughing all the way to the BANK! I wish I could work 50% less and still make 100% of my pay.

I say we vote Kitty in as Prime Minister and he can do something about that.

Better late than never.

Buhbye Ben.

... and the words "Canadian" and "Idol" should NEVER be used in the same sentence.

Kitty would so bitch slap that boy.
Another funny part of this is that Insight Productions, which produces Canadian Idol, Comedy Now, Comedy Inc. and a slew of other crappy programs for CTV and The Comedy Network, is owned by Mrs. Ivan Fecan. Hubby is the Grand Poobah of CTVglobemedia. However will they continue to buy Kraft Dinner and Dijon ketchup?

There's a hidden agenda behind this Idolgate scandal, mark my words. The money thing just doesn't fly considering they still have to keep paying for all the really expensive stuff like hosts, licensing, judges -- only the backstage crew is out of work AND money.

Well poo I always watched both idol shows .. I thought it was a great forum for young singers to make it or break it .. my personal opinion is that Benny Boy and the judges probably got paid too much and broke the bank.Coming back for 2010 might be a big net boo boo as the viewing public are made up of fickle bitches just like me .
(VW word is praben ?? creepy )
