So there's a transit strike in Ottawa

Don't let the exaggeraters fool you. The city has NOT ground to a halt.
Sure, it's a pain in the ass, especially if you have to drive on the Queensway during peak periods, but it still isn't the 401 on the best of days.

And one advantage of an OCTranspo strike: Fewer buses on the road. Just STO buses from Gatineau. AND Rideau Street outside the Rideau Centre isn't as creepy as usual, because there are fewer freaks hanging around the bus stops.

What about the students in the middle of exams who can't get to them and are sleeping in the library because they can't get home and then back again; people without cars who have to walk 2 hours to work or beg a ride or use their vacation leave; people who need to get to appointments or buy groceries who can't afford cabs; kids who need to get to school; shops are losing the Xmas money they've been depending on; and not to mention the thousands of extra cars stinking up the roads and parking all over the place. For some of us, things really have ground to a halt.
