Anybody into symbolism?

What does it mean when you're walking down the street at almost 2:30 in the afternoon, on your way to work, and you see a rat walking along the same sidewalk?

You might all be right. However, it seems that what it meant was that my day would go apparently smoothly, until showtime at 11pm. Nothing major happened, but a lot of little stupid things that just pissed me off.
