American Idol has jumped the shark

It's now a total joke, thanks to the idiots who hijacked it with the online campaign to keep Sanjaya in the mix -- although he wasn't all that bad last night. Maybe he should be crooner.

Regardless, AI's credibility is now zero in my mind. I gave up on Canadian Idol a few seasons back, because of Jon Dore and Ben Mulroney. Not even the removal of Dore was enough to make me want to try to stomach that lightweight Mulroney.

I am pissed tonight too . Gina was one of the promising singers in the group . The way I look at it they still get media exposure and a summer tour so it is not all a loss . We have had some excellent singers out of this ...Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are two of the best . I have to give Sanjaya credit for getting up there on stage week after week when he knows all about the bad publicity about his so called talent . It's not his fault . Lighten up Bobby .

I agree. I am not blaming Sanjaya a bit. In fact, I feel sorry for him. He's being used by people to make a mockery of American Idol, and it's not fair to him. Besides, Ma, I did say that he wasn't bad this week.

Hey, they're the ones who have gone to the well one too many times... I'm amazed it took this long for something like VoteForTheWorst.com to come about.

It's old, it's tired, and now - it's flawed too. Good riddance!

As for Ben Mulroney... I've never met a single person (either in, or NOT in broadcasting) who says they like him. I just don't get it.

So many talented broadcasters out there and this plastic piece of crap lands all kinds of gigs.

On the other hand, the words CANADIAN and IDOL should never be used in the same book, let alone the same sentence.

John Dore was GREAT! The only redeeming thing about Canadian Idol.

The rest...meh.

Dore is just not my cup of tea, comedy wise. Although I will admit that the bit he and Ben Mulhooey did contrasting their Ottawa upbringings was a hoot. Ben grew up at 24 Sussex Drive, Jon in a semi somewhere in suburbia; Ben had a pool in his house, Jon played badminton in his postage stamp-size back yard...
