The First Sign of Spring

...and I have seen it! I don't need no stinkin' robin to tell me it's spring! Shortly before midnight, walking through the ByWard Market after getting off work, there it was: A GUY IN SHORTS!
Sure, it was 11 degrees earlier in the day, and 6 degrees with no windchill when I saw him (at least, weather dude Bill Welychka said it was 6 degrees on my 11pm newscast), but HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP MAN, IT'S ONLY 6 DEGREES AND IT'S ONLY MARCH 22nd AND THE HIGHEST THE TEMPERATURE GOT TO DURING THE DAY WAS 11 DEGREES. Are you nuckin' futs or what???
Cripes.

Here in the north it is bicyclists in the snow that make me wonder who's tune is loose .Shorts in the freezin' cold seems to be an Ottawa pastime .

You're right, as usual, Ma. I guess that Ottawa pastime means that shrinkage is probably prevalent in Ottawa, too, in places other than politicians' brains.

I always wondered what happened to Bill....I used to watch him on MuchMusic and I always thought he was a cutie...Oh, and I saw a gut today in jeans and a t-shirt, I think the shorts are only a matter of time.

When I read "gut", I thought you had seen me.

Bill has been our weather guy since last fall, coming here after a year co-hosting A-Channel Morning in Edmonton. A good guy. Check him out on achannel.ca/ottawa . He does a weekly blog there.
